I can easily say this is one of the most well-written books I have ever read. From the second I read the first page, I knew it was going to be a good book. That’s always a good feeling. Knowing that you’re about to read a great book is super satisfying, but can also be pretty stressful (in my opinion, but everything stresses me out). I get worried that the book won’t live up to my expectations.
But I can tell you: this book surpassed my greatest expectations. It is by far the best written book I have ever read, and yet it gets no recognition. I really enjoyed the plot too.
Leaving Earth, by Dom Testa takes place way way way in the future. A comet flew past Earth leaving toxic particles that cause the slow degradation of fully developed brains. That means that anyone under the age of 18 is safe. So the human race makes the (almost) unanimous decision to send 250 kids into space. Kind of like the Star Trek: TOS episode ‘Space Seed’.
I really loved it. A perfect mix of drama and discovery and just a sprinkling of romance. I really hand it to Dom Testa, he wrote a darn good book.
