Book Review: Beauty by Lauren Conrad

Lauren Conrad has always been one of my beauty inspirations. So when I heard about her book, Beauty, I knew I had to get it. It’s only $20, a great price for a book of its size and content. You can get it at most bookstores, or online.

This book contains everything beauty related. Tips, tricks, ideas, and full looks. One of the things I love about it is the diversity of the models. It gives looks for pale, medium, and dark skin tones, features ways to keep  your natural curl, and gives ways to make different ethnicities look amazing. I love this because a lot of beauty blogs, websites, and YouTube  channels only show tan girls with long, luscious hair. It’s nice to have an example for those of us who can’t achieve that look.

The book begins with PREP. First, you find what look you’re going for. Then, find skin and hair care for your unique needs. This part also includes ways to deal with the side-effects of stress, and healthy habits you can follow to look your best.

Next comes my favorite part: play. It covers everything from everyday to party makeup, and lots of different hair looks too. Nails are not a huge part, but it does give a few different manicure ideas. Tutorials are specific and easy to follow, which is super nice for beginners. The book ends with Beauty Through the Decades. It shows how beauty has evolved over the decades, starting with the 1920’s, and ending with the 70’s.

Overall, this is a great book! It shows you timeless looks, and it’s incredibly easy to follow. The pictures are good, and the makeup isn’t too crazy. I would definitely recommend this book for beginners in makeup and hair. If you know what you’re doing, you probably won’t find this book helpful.
